About Domenique
Hi, I’m Domenique (she/her) founder of Express and Embody Psychotherapy and Registered Psychotherapist. I offer psychotherapy for individuals in the Waterdown area and across Ontario.
I am passionate about connecting with others and learning, and as a clinician, I get to do both. I believe we all have inner-wisdom, and through connection and relationship we can learn a lot about ourselves. The therapeutic relationship can be a vehicle for self-discovery, growth and change – together, we can work towards inner healing.
Having had my own challenges with anxiety and understanding attachment styles, and the unique challenges they can present in relationships, I meet clients where they are at. I have always valued finding a space where I can express myself authentically. In our sessions, I welcome you to express yourself in any way you see fit.
In my spare time, you can find me with a cup of coffee, connecting with friends and family, walking my dog Henry, exploring new restaurants, traveling or expressing myself through writing.
Let’s explore how I can guide you towards embodying the life you deserve.
My Approach
My approach is both person-centred and relational. I do what works for my clients and pull strategies from different modalities (which is sometimes known as eclectic). l believe therapy is both a collaborative and fluid process. The client is the driver in our sessions, and I will help to navigate. We are on the same team as we make steps towards your goals. I am always open to feedback to adjust our plan to meet your needs. The therapeutic relationship is foundational to our work together and will be used to better understand your connection with yourself, and others.
My Philosophy
My practice is rooted in the belief that we all have inner-wisdom; we all have strengths and a purpose. We have the capacity to grow, change and heal if we are willing, and engaged in the process. I believe it is easier to make shifts in our lives when we better understand ourselves in a holistic way. I am committed to supporting and encouraging you as I create a safe space for you to explore ideas, challenge yourself, and discover new ways to cope. My style is down to earth, warm and honest. I can be direct if you need me to be, and I welcome humour into our sessions as well.

Education and Experience
I hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree from Western University in addition to a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I also hold a certificate in Project Management from George Brown College.
I continue to engage in training, workshops and supervision to deepen my knowledge in the field. My training includes graduate coursework in Trauma-focussed approaches, CBT, Biopsychosocial, and Existential-Humanistic approaches.
